SUSPICION (സംശയം-ബാലചന്ദ്രന്‍ ചുള്ളിക്കാട് )

Even though birth, life and even death are
mere materials of study for humans
the gimmick of nature that makes us believe
that the motion of particles as static and the
dynamics as flow of time
is still unknown to us.

Is conscience a mere character of the brain
as the neuroscientists say?
Or is it the ultimate truth
As revealed to the saints?

The mysterious power that sets into motion
the tiniest subatomic particles,
Is it the sublime harmony that blends
the subject, the knowledge and the one who knows into one?
Is the all encompassing super power
utter void or perfection paramount?

The trees are least suspicious
So are the birds that fly in the sky
Donkeys, frogs, centipedes,
Worms and crickets know the answers for sure.
Even the lowliest amoeba isn’t ashamed
Of being ignorant.

It is just for us humans
To study and then to experiment to verify it.
We toil the dreary desert of life on earth
with this never ending suspicion,
alas! it follows us to our grave
